Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment system that provides an alternative to metal braces. Instead of straightening your teeth with brackets, wires, and rubber bands, Invisalign uses removable aligners made from SmartTrack®. SmartTrack is an FDA-approved thermoplastic that doesn’t contain gluten or latex, making it safe for pregnant people and those with allergies.
TLN Family Dental uses Invisalign to correct various alignment issues, including:
You might also benefit from Invisalign treatment if you have a bite abnormality, like crossbite, overbite, or underbite.
At TLN Family Dental, Invisalign treatment begins with a review of your dental records and a discussion of your goals. Your provider asks what you like and dislike about your smile, conducts an oral exam, and takes a series of digital X-rays.
If your dentist identifies any alignment issues, like crooked teeth or a misaligned jaw, you qualify for treatment.
Your provider takes digital scans of your mouth and uploads them to a computer-design program. They use the program to develop a custom orthodontic treatment plan that maps out the step-by-step movements of your teeth and jaw.
After finalizing the plan, your provider sends your scans and treatment plan to an Invisalign lab. Techs at the lab use that information to develop a series of custom orthodontic appliances that fit perfectly.
When your first set of Invisalign aligners is ready, you return to TLN Family Dental and try them on. Over the course of treatment, you visit the practice every three months. At each checkup, your provider monitors your progress and asks you to put in your new set of aligners.
The time that orthodontic treatment with Invisalign takes depends on various factors, including your age, the issues treated, and your commitment to your provider’s care plan. Some people achieve their results in 6-12 months*, but it may take 18 months or longer for others.
To ensure a positive outcome, wear your aligners 20-22 hours a day, only removing them to eat, brush, and floss.
